The Bowling Green Youth Hockey Association subscribes to the core values of USA Hockey including sportsmanship, respect, integrity and enjoyment of the game.  We also support the USA Hockey Zero Tolerance Policy.  If you have a complaint about a coach or player of the BGYHA, we strongly urge that you address it first with the coach directly whenever possible.  BGYHA has established a Disciplinary Committee to investigate and issue sanctions depending on the severity of the incident.  The BGYHA Incident Report Form may be filled out in writing or by e-mail and sent to the appropriate commissioner for that division.

You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to download/view the BGYHA Incident Report form and/or USA Hockey Zero Tolerance policy.  If you do not have Adobe Acrobat Reader, you may download it for free at http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep.html

Parents Code of Conduct
The following Parents’ Code of Conduct was developed by the USA Hockey Youth Council:

·   Do not force your children to participate in sports, but support their desire to play their chosen sport.  Children are involved in organized sports for their enjoyment.

·   Encourage your child to play by the rules.  Remember, children learn best by example, so applaud the good play of both teams.

·   Emphasize skill development and practices and how they benefit your young athlete.  De-emphasize games and competition, particularly in the younger age groups.

·   Know and study the rules of the game; support the officials on and off the ice.  Any criticism of the officials only hurts the game.

·   Applaud a good effort in both victory and defeat.  Enforce the positive points of the game.  Never yell at, or physically abuse, your child after a game or practice.  Work toward removing the physical and verbal abuse in youth sports.

·   Recognize the importance of volunteer coaches.  They are very important to the development of your child and the sport.  Communicate with them and support them.

·   If you enjoy hockey, learn all you can about the game and ...
